Sun Moon Ascent is a free astrology site built around one thing done well: your Sun, Moon and Rising signs, worked out properly and explained clearly, on a page that is fast on a phone and pleasant to read.

How the charts are calculated

Planet positions come from an astronomical model (the open source astronomy-engine library), accurate to well under a degree for any date from 1900 on. Your birth place sets the latitude, longitude and time zone, including the daylight saving rules that applied on the day you were born. Houses use the Placidus system, with whole sign houses near the poles.

Who writes the readings

Every interpretation on the site is original writing, made for this site, in plain language. We try to describe both sides of every placement and never to flatter, frighten or predict.
